So by now everybody should know that football has begun. But with it comes with negative parts too such as the media attention. I mean, there is also a huge baseball race going on and college football is in full swing as well. The NFL does not need to be discussed 24/7 even though there are many fans of the NFL. That is the last I will talk about that because there are some headlines in the NFL that do need to be covered such as the fact that Marcus Mariota and the Titans dominated his Heisman counterpart in the form of Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers with a final score of 42-14. This week Mariota faces another former Heisman trophy winner in the form of Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns. I predict the Titans will win, but we will just have to wait and see. At this point of the season it is hard to predict who will start the season off with the most wins. The Broncos have taken a step back in their progression and the Seahawks lost already albeit being in overtime. The Patriots can be one of those teams...again, but they aren't the same without Vince Wilfork and many other components from last year's championship team.

In college, we see another last-minute win from BYU and a nail biter between LSU and Mississippi State (21-19) with the Tigers winning on a bulldog missed field goal. BYU was on Boise State's 40-yard line with the down being 4th and 7. With less than two minutes to play, Mitch Mangum tossed a ball to an open receiver in the end zone and gave the Cougars the lead. Then on the ensuing Bronco offensive drive, the defense intercepted the ball and took it home, thus sealing a dramatic come-from-behind victory. Other games this week that fall on my radar include the nineteenth-ranked Cougars as they travel to Pasadena, California to take on 10 UCLA at 10:30 ET on FOX Sports1. The biggest game of the day, however, comes from the SEC as 2 Alabama faces off against 15 Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa at 9:15 ET on ESPN. Other games include: 16 Auburn against 13 LSU at 3:30 ET on ESPN. 14 Georgia Tech travels to South Bend, Indiana to take on 6 Notre Dame at 3:30 on NBC. There are plenty of options this Saturday to watch your favorite team take the field. Click

In the wonderful world of baseball, the Padres bullpen has tanked and the rise of the Rangers continues to surprise the nation since only on August 2nd they were 8 games back of the division-leading Astros, which meant they were also behind the Angels. In other races around the league, the Royals, Mets and Dodgers have their individual divisions all but wrapped up in a polka dot bow. The Blue Jays lead the Yankees by 3.5 and the Cardinals lead the Pirates by 4.5. The wild card race, meanwhile, is, well, wild! The Yankees lead by 4.5 games over the Astros, who lead the second spot by 1.5 games over the unexpected Twins and 2.5 in front of the inconsistent Angels. In the NL, it's looking like the Giants will not have the opportunity to defend their title as they are behind the second wild card leader Chicago Cubs by 8.5 games who, themselves, are 1.5 games behind the wild card-leading Pirates. Speaking of the Pirates, they lost their Korean rookie short stop Jung Ho Kang for the rest of the year with a knee injury. Got all that? Let me just finish up with the Padres. Without Shawn Kelley and Brandon Maurer in the bullpen, they have obviously struggled since the only consistent pitchers are the set-up and closing pitchers in the form of Joaquin Benoit and Craig Kimbrel. I am very hopeful about the offseason, however. I expect A.J. Preller to dish away Andrew Cashner and/or Ian Kennedy for some much-needed prospects. He may even trade away Craig Kimbrel and his $24 million deal over the next two years. With this in mind, you may wonder who we will have still? I believe that A.J. Preller will be able to find a manager that will push this club to the postseason, plus with the additions of James Shields and Tyson Ross, those leaders can take the club to the promised land. Anyways, with the season winding down, who will come out on top? Who will take the throne away from the San Francisco Giants? That is why they play the games.
You are such a good writer! Seriously! And I wish the Padres would just listen to YOU! Have a great week!
