You might like the holidays for presents and food. I do too. But one other
reason is because of the many bowl games that come this time of year. With the
top-four set last Sunday, New Years eve should be more than a blast. It should
be exciting joy. The bowl schedule is posted
here. Of course I am looking forward to watching the
playoff games on New Years eve, as everyone should be. But my top three games
outside of the playoff are listed below.
- Notre Dame vs. Ohio State in the Fiesta bowl. New Years day, 1 ET, ESPN
- Rose bowl: Iowa vs. Stanford, New Years day 5 ET, ESPN
- Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl: BYU vs. Utah, 3:30 ET, ABC

In the realm of MLB baseball, lots has happened since last week. The winter
meetings certainly helped with that. Let's start in the usual place: the Padres.
The swinging friars didn't make many moves, but they did make moves
nonetheless. We traded Jedd Gyorko to the Cardinals along with $7.5 million in
cash for outfielder Jon Jay. I am excited to see what Jay can bring to the
team. Hopefully he can bring some heart to combine with James Shields and the
other veterans. We also traded a minor-league catcher and pitcher Casey Kelley
to the Braves for catcher Christian Bethancourt. Bethancourt is out of minor
league options, meaning he can only be in the big leagues or has to be
released. In other big news, Zack Greinke signed with the D-Backs if you
haven't realized that yet. 6 years and $206 million. Talk about crazy, huh? Not
really. The D-Backs have been preparing for this moment for years, shedding
payroll. Then later in the week during winter meetings, the D-Backs were at it
again getting P Shelby Miller for number one overall pick Dansby Swanson and
top pitching prospect Aaron Blair along with SS Ender Inciarte. Experts are
raving about the moves made and so am I. Watch out for the D-Backs in the NL
West this year. They could be a team to reckon with.
I don't have much to say about the NFL, so I'll just save that until next week.

In the NBA, however, the Warriors continue to be on a roll going 24-0 and on a 28-game winning streak dating back to last season. Nobody seems to be able to stop them now. I don't see them losing until after Christmas. They play the Cavaliers on Christmas day but that is in Golden State. Tell me what you think in the comments below.
Sorry this had to be such a short post. I am busy today and am preparing for finals next week. But I will have a full post next week!
