Super Bowl 50

Image result for Peyton ManningFrom the first super bowl in 1966 to today, there have been many memorable moments. Surely there will yet be more memorable moments in the years to come as well. Perhaps the most memorable super bowl moment for me is the super bowl in 2008 with the undefeated Patriots taking on the Giants. The Velcro catch by David Tyree and then the game-winning catch from Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress was truly legendary. This super bowl should be no different in terms of drama. With the Broncos coming in with such leadership in the form of Peyton Manning and the Panthers endorsing Cam Newton, the quarterback which makes fewer mistakes will surely be the one that wins. As I said last week, I think leadership will abound in this game as the Broncos and Peyton Manning will win a close match-up thanks to their staunch defense. Honestly, I won't be surprised if either team wins but I think leadership will prevail.

Not many transactions have taken place in the past week, but the Padres have made a move in trading Odrisamer Despaigne to the Orioles for a minor league pitcher. OD started his career well in 2014, his debut season. But last year he allowed the high pressure and expectations to get to him a little too much as he finished the year with a 5.86 ERA.  That won't get you a job in the big leagues. Opening day is just about two months from now, so time now to get your blood pumping and show some excitement, especially now that football season is almost over.

Image result for Oklahoma city thunderThe Golden State Warriors have not slowed their pace to beat the Chicago Bulls' record-setting 1996 season in which they only lost 10 games. The Warriors only have four losses all season and are three and a half games ahead of a Spurs team that has lost Tim Duncan for the next few games, thus losing defensive efficiency after being the best defensive team in the NBA. Not far behind is the Oklahoma City Thunder. Featuring perhaps the best point guard in the league in Russel Westbrook and one of the best forwards in Kevin Durant, this offensive powerhouse will be hard to take down come playoff time. Of course, all roads go through Golden State. In the east, Cleveland is the obvious favorite to prevail as the #1 seed. But only one and a half games back are the Toronto Raptors. In recent history, the Raptors have had stellar regular seasons but then flop in the playoffs. With only two months left in the regular season, there is not much time left to make a move to get in. Let's see who makes it.

That will do it for this week's post! Thank you for taking the time to read!
